SUMMARY OF THE 2ND ANNUAL BACK TO BASICS COOPERATIVE SUMMIT

20170228_092327On February 27 – March 1, 2017 the Montana Cooperative Development Center hosted the 2nd Annual Back to Basics Cooperative Summit with the theme of Engaging in the Cooperative Economy.  The 2017 summit expanded the areas of focus from food and housing (2016) to Food and Agricultural Co-ops, Consumer & Shared Service Co-ops, Housing Cooperatives, and Community Investment Co-ops.  Approximately 75 people attended the summit versus 40 in 2016.

The summit started with pre-summit workshops on Co-ops 101, Governing Your Cooperative, and Understanding Co-op Finances and Patronage on Monday afternoon.  Monday, prior to dinner, a World Café was held to capture what participants hoped to achieve over the course of the following two days.
