Summary of Responsibilities: The executive director serves as the executive manager and primary spokesperson for a 20-year old, 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization with a research and educational mission focused on cooperative development. This person is accountable to a nine-member board of directors whose members are appointed by supportive Montana organizations for the purpose of creating new cooperatives and advancing the co-op business model. The executive director supervises a four-person staff and administers up to 10 annual contracts with regional economic development organizations to deliver statewide cooperative development services. The successful candidate must efficiently administer MCDC’s financial, personnel and operational systems while ensuring compliance with all applicable ethical and legal standards for nonprofit organizations. The ultimate role of the executive director is to grow the organization’s capacity to fulfill its stated mission through general fund development; quality programming for its constituents; and excellence in client and public communications.
