Session I: Food Hub Development Challenges
Learn about the development of cooperative food hubs and hear updates on the Colorado Food Hub Network from Dan Hobbs, Cooperative Development Specialist for Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, which serves Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. Following the presentation, a panel of leaders from regional food hubs will discuss the process and challenges of building food hubs statewide. This session will be focused on advancing efforts in Montana to develop emerging food hubs in under-served areas of Montana and developing expanding distribution through cooperative to cooperative (food hub to food hub) collaboration.
Session II: Capitalizing Agricultural Cooperatives
A presentation from Margaret Lund on strategies for capitalizing food system development projects will be followed by local leaders sharing creative capitalization strategies used successfully by agricultural cooperatives and a facilitated discussion on applying these strategies to regional projects moving forward.
