Montana Farmers Union is a statewide grassroots organization working for family farmers, ranchers and rural communities through educational conferences, scholarships, legislative representation and support for producer-owned co-ops.  For over 100 years MFU has been a voice for family farms supporting policy and programs beneficial for operators, laborers and consumers alike.  MFU provides education opportunities through youth, women’s and adult education programs.  MFU’s agriculture policy is crafted at the local level and voted by membership on a variety issues including, but, not limited to: water rights, natural resources, trade, farm agriculture credit and access to land, food and food safety.  MFU believes in the preservation of rural community life and strives to support its members while keeping the needs of the family farm at the forefront of its mission.

Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) was started by rural residents of Hill County who wanted to enjoy the benefits of electricity the same way those in the cities had been using for many years.  HCE was incorporated in 1945 as an electric distribution cooperative.
